The Hospital Sterilisation and Decontamination Unit (HSDU) serves both the Colchester General and Essex County hospitals.
The HSDU re-processes medical instruments and equipment. The majority are theatre instrument sets which are cleaned and decontaminated, inspected, packed, sterilised, and returned for re-use.
The facility includes clean room ventilation and associated pressure regimes.
A new steel framed and profile clad building with piled foundations housing specialist plant and administration offices and changing facilities for the sterilisation and disinfection of hospital equipment.

New build sterile services unit of just over 1000m2. Extension of existing site wide steam services to remote building for sterilisation and heating and hot water production.
